Short description
EUMaster4HPC-2 is an ambitious, pan-European Master’s programme building on the success of its pilot phase to address the growing demand for highly skilled professionals in High Performance Computing, a domain increasingly central to Europe’s digital sovereignty and scientific leadership. This second phase will scale up operations, deepen industry engagement, and align with emerging frontiers in AI and Quantum Computing, positioning Europe at the forefront of computing education. The programme unites 9 Awarding Universities from 8 European countries — including renowned institutions, 6 of them returning partners (Univ. of Luxembourg - coordinator, Univ. Politècnica de Catalunya, Politecnico di Milano, Friedrich-Alexander-Univ., Sorbonne Univ., and Sofia Univ.), 2 universities previously involved as Participating Universities (AGH and Technical Univ. of Ostrava (VSB-TUO)), and 1 new university (Freie Univ. Berlin). These are joined by Participating Universities and leading supercomputing centres, ensuring students’ access to cutting-edge infrastructure. Sustained collaboration with industry enhances the impact, reinforcing the link between education, research, and innovation. The programme will graduate 400+ students across 4 cohorts, with a strong emphasis on inclusiveness and geographical balance. The 120 ECTS curriculum combines core, balancing, and specialised modules, with 4 focus areas: System Architecture, System Development & Support, Performance Analysis, and Numerical & Data Analysis. Mobility is a cornerstone of the programme, supported by grants, internships, and joint training events. Aligned with the EuroHPC Virtual Academy, EUMaster4HPC-2 integrates cross-institutional learning. In cooperation with ETP4HPC, the project further strengthens its engagement with industry, ensuring that graduates are well prepared to meet Europe’s technological and labour market needs. EUMaster4HPC-2 is a strategic investment in Europe’s future HPC, AI & Quantum leaders.
