Mechanical behavior of polymer nanocomposites


Description / Outline

I am working on a methodology to investigate the mechanical behavior of polymers and polymer nanocomposites. We  use an MD-FE coupling approach that allows us to study the nanocomposites under deformation, e.g., to identify the property gradients in the interphases forming around the filler particles. The main focus is a better understanding of these composite materials on a molecular level to facilitate the implementation of RVE's for large-scale FE simulations. Furthermore, I am interested in numerical material characterization, constitutive modeling, coarse-graining, and polymer fracture.
