Assessing volumetric image data, both for investigational imaging biomarker assessment and for technical research, is a frequent task. Often, the focus is on comparing methods, e.g., for image quality improvement or examining image artifacts in a series of images. However, easily adaptable tools to assess several 3-D images in an organized sequence are limited. To address this gap, we developed a web-based, interactive multiplanar viewer with a focus on streamlined, guided image quality assessment through expert studies and questionnaires, as well as easy adaptability to study-specific requirements. The viewer has a modular structure, and users can add or remove different predefined modules as needed. In this work, we showcase the viewer for hand magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment. To evaluate the usability of our presented graphical user interface (GUI), we performed a small user study across medical imaging and clinical experts. They rated the system as very intuitive and flexible, and highlighted its generalizability to different settings and images. We release our code and application on github.com/MajaSchle/dash_multiplanar.
