Abstract

BACKGROUND: Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming an integral part of everyday life, including in the healthcare sector. When used in the healthcare sector or especially in university hospitals, regulations are necessary to ensure secure and structured implementation and operation of AI systems. OBJECTIVE: The aim was to evaluate the existing AI governance and ethics framework implemented at a university hospital based on feedback to assess the acceptance and to identify potential for improvement. METHODS: Project partnerst' feedback on the implemented AI governance and ethics framework and on the corresponding checklist was gathered via an online platform and evaluated qualitatively. RESULTS: The feedback revealed that the AI governance and ethics framework and the corresponding checklist at hand is a promising approach for implementing AI systems at a university hospital although some aspects are still unclear formulated or difficult to implement into daily business routine. CONCLUSION: The evaluated AI governance and ethics framework and its accompanying checklist represent a good basis on which to build. Some topics for improvement were identified which will be addressed in a future version. Further evaluation rounds will be conducted.
