Abstract

The draining tear ducts are not only important for ophthalmologists and interventional radiologists, but also for ENT specialists who treat the draining tear ducts endonasally conservatively or surgically. This chapter provides an overview of the basic knowledge of lacrimal drainage system anatomy and physiology based on the current state of knowledge, taking into account own research results from recent years and clinical aspects. Functional aspects of tear transport as well as embryological and pathophysiological aspects are included.
