The identification of functional biomarkers in rheumatoid (RA) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients has gained interest given the rapidly evolving trend towards digital monitoring tools for patient-centered assessment of disease activity [1]. Obtaining highly sensitive functional biomarkers from hand movements remains challenging due to the complex anatomical structure of the hand. Movement tasks that require a flexible palm arch can be particularly susceptible to impairments, as this movement involves all metacarpophalangeal (MCP) and carpometacarpal (CMC) joints. However, the quantification of palm arch movement is poorly investigated.
