The advantages arising from the spatial integration of electrical and mechanical functions in three-dimensional plastic parts will in future increasingly lead to the replacement of conventional electronic assemblies by thermoplastic MIDs. The laser beam structuring of 3D-MIDs - ie the generation of electrical conductor structures with the laser - is clearly superior to alternative manufacturing processes not only in terms of the achievable structure resolutions, but above all in terms of flexibility. However, less well-developed structuring systems and structuring methods that only partially fulfill the specific requirements of MID technology have hitherto been an obstacle to the widespread market introduction of laser-beam-structured 3D-MIDs. Against this background, this book deals with fundamental considerations for the design of laser-pattern structuring elements 3D-MIDs and on the other hand developed new approaches for the production of conductor structures on thermoplastic substrate materials.
