Abstract

The tribological system has a major impact on the process window of forming process in the manufacturing of car body parts. Therefore in the design process a realistic mapping of friction in simulation is necessary. In this work the influence of several for the manufacturing of car body parts relevant process variables on the friction coefficient have been investigated. Based on these findings a pressure dependent friction model has been developed. The verification of this model has shown a more realistic representation of the sheet thickness distribution in simulation by using the new approach in comparison to the industrial standard.
