Abstract

Contraception advice for girls and young women is becoming more and more challenging as information from the internet increases. Although great importance is attached to reliable contraception, there is currently a shift from safe to non-safe contraceptive methods. More than half of the young women would like to change their contraceptive method. Both the new combination of estetrol/drospirenone and the new estrogen-free pill consisting of drospirenone are a good addition to the currently available hormonal contraceptives due to their favorable profile of effects. A good contraceptive advice is needed to find the optimal contraceptive method, taking into account the individual risk profile and the desired additional side effects.
