The maintenance of pulp vitality is the utmost goal after dental trauma, in particular in teeth with incomplete root formation. Vital pulp treatment includes indirect and direct pulp capping as well as partial and complete pulpotomy. Success rates after vital pulp treatment are high. In cases of pulp exposure after dental trauma, (partial) pulpotomy is the favored treatment method rather than direct pulp capping.
