Abstract

The demographic change and innovative advances in interventional cardiology lead to changes in the quality of the medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases. A successful management of cardiac catheterization laboratories can result in an efficiency-oriented organization of medical service processes as well as a robust reporting system, whereby healthcare and economic goals do not have to be in conflict. By establishing and standardizing process steps, process indicators can be derived to help improve the quality of care for patients with cardiovascular diseases.
