Environmental health and related issues will be always at the center of human attention because they are related to the consequences that may cause environmental problems or disasters affecting people's health. In order to maintain the health of the environment, continuous action should be considered, including awareness, detection, action, and remediation, if the situation requires it. All these issues are discussed throughout this chapter from the perspective of advanced nanostructure applications, with their potential future also being explored. The chapter provides insights on new or less intensively investigated areas and research directions in the fields where advanced nanostructures are influencing our health and proxy environment. New trends are explored in the development of photocatalytic materials while the challenges of nanoparticle detection by vibrational spectroscopy and the detection of gaseous pollutants by other means are also examined, keeping in focus nanoecotoxicological issues as well.
