Abstract

Coherent combination of multiple fiber amplifiers has become an established approach for power scaling beyond the limitations of a single amplifier [1, 2]. However, the drawback of this technology has always been the linear increase of component count and, thus, complexity and footprint with the number of channels. Systems based on multicore fibers offer an opportunity to break this dependency. In this contribution, we demonstrate a complete fiber CPA system based on a fiber with 16 cores and fully integrated components for beam splitting, phasing and combination.
