Abstract

We report on a method based on the temporal domain properties of reversibly switchable fluorescent proteins (RSFPs) in combination with real-time acquisition of volumetric multi-spectral optoacoustic data in order to map light fluence distribution deep in a scattering medium. The new approach has the particular advantage of being independent from the high variability of fluence patterns in different tissues as well as wavelength-dependent light attenuation.
