In industrial software development for electric drives manufacturing, human-machine interface (HMD-engineering is a time-consuming process, as concepts like service-oriented architectures and aspects of interoperability are not prevailed yet. The Reference Architectural Model Industrie 4.0 aims to solve this challenge and serve companies as a framework for developing future products and business models by defining unified software structures. In this context, we develop and validate a concept for the realization of highly configurable, adaptable HMI for visualizing and monitoring of discrete production plants based on the technologies OPC Unified Architecture and AutomationML. By conforming to the Reference Architectural Model Industrie 4.0, the fast adoption to various application scenarios and the efficiency enhancement in corresponding development processes is possible.
