Abstract

New double perovskites ALaCuOsO6 (A ​= ​Ba and Sr) displaying complete A‒ and B‒site order have been synthesized and their magnetic properties studied. They crystallize in a tetragonal cell with space group I4¯. The octahedral tilt system a0a0c observed is complying with the space group symmetry. Both the compounds show predominant antiferromagnetic interactions at high temperature and order magnetically below Néel temperatures of 25 ​K (BaLaCuOsO6) and 50 ​K (SrLaCuOsO6).
