Abstract

The article announces the recently discovered part of the correspondence of Johann Lukas Schönlein (1793-1864), which was considered lost or destroyed. Beginning with a reconstruction of the puzzling ways taken by Schönlein's correspondence after his death, we try to give a first overview on the chronological order and some of the prominent topics treated. Finally, some perspectives on new research enabled by the recently discovered correspondence are outlined.
