When on-chip microresonators were first fabricated in 2005, it became apparent that these cavities exhibit op-tomechanical properties, evident by the parametric oscillation instability that was observed [1], [2]. This behaviour, resulting from radiation pressure, was then exploited for experiments involving cavity cooling [3], and coherent amplification in the form of a phonon laser [4].
