For many signal processing applications, images and videos with a high spatial resolution, a high frame rate, as well as a high dynamic range are desirable. Increasing the spatial, temporal, and radiometric resolution can be achieved either by using better, more expensive hardware or by applying suitable signal processing methods.
This thesis focuses on multi-image approaches for the resolution enhancement of images and video sequences, from which video surveillance, automotive, and entertainment applications may benefit. To that end, various novel techniques for super-resolution, frame rate up-conversion, and high dynamic range imaging are presented that show promising results for both simulated and real-world data.
