The article discusses the production of lithic artifacts and ceramics at Tell Chuera, a major 3rd millennium
BCE site in North Syria. It will be demonstrated that the manufacture of these artifacts can
be differentiated into several sub-modes, each of which representing a different way of organizing
the supply with everyday goods in an Early Bronze Age city-state. The article summarizes previous
considerations on the organization of craft production and domestic production at Chuera and
draws upon published as well as unpublished data.
