Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigations of the SAR raw data compression performance based on the quantization of the pixel amplitude for interferometric systems. The Block-Adaptive Quantization (BAQ) algorithm is applied to each Cartesian component of the complex SAR data and optimized in terms of block size. Furthermore, a comparison with the quantization of the polar components of the data is presented. © 2003 Lister Science.
