Abstract

In this paper we present a simple non-recursive frequency modulator which avoids the inherited memory and complexity of linearized continuous phase modulation (CPM). This novel approach decreases the system complexity and it improves the bit error performance compared to differentially decoded CPM signals. Furthermore we combine this method advantageously with a multiple input multiple output (MIMO) approach and we apply it to the single carrier transmission with frequency domain equalization (SC/FDE) technology. The overall system features constant envelope transmit signals, which are immune to the nonlinearity of the power amplifiers, a high spectral efficiency and a low complex equalization process at the receiver. After a description of the concepts we show simulation results for the non-block transmission single input single output (SISO) as well as for the MIMO case
