Abstract

The system test of the Origin Offset Suppression in GSM EDGE systems requires high carrier suppression in a RF-transmitter with vectormodulation. This is difficult to achieve in integrated circuit design because of component mismatch and RF coupling inside the chip. The carrier feedthrough can be increased by adjusting the offset voltages in the mixer cells by the digital signal processor. A new mixer topology has been developed where the low frequency baseband signals can be measured with an analogue to digital converter directly before entering the RF circuits. The carrier suppression has been increased by more than 20 dBc after carrying out the adjustment algorithm due to the high accuracy of the circuit.
