Abstract

A fully-integrated, single-chip, intermediate frequency (IF) transceiver (TRX) with on-chip synthesizer, a novel vector-modulator/divider structure for receiver local oscillator (LO) generation from transmitter LO, and analog continuoustime baseband filters with automatic filter calibration is presented. The transceiver is intended for third-generation (3G) Wide-Band Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) mobiles and has been implemented in a standard, high frequency, Si-BiCMOS process with a bipolar of 25 GHz and a gate length of 0.5 um. The transceiver complies with Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB) W-CDMA and UMTS standards.
