Abstract

Location Based Services (LBS) and the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) mandate for mobile 911 calls are driving forces in the development of positioning algorithms in third generation mobile handsets. In this work, we present an improvement upon the common path profiling method. The proposed algorithm averages multiple slots and subjects the distinct delay profiles to a number of exclusion criteria which sort out highly noise-corrupted measurements. Simulations prove that the method obtains high accuracy gains at very low implementational and computational complexity.
