Mobile devices - like smartphones - usually demand for ultra low power solutions to save battery life. This paper presents a novel approach to receive broadcasted data objects from a data carousel under these extreme low power conditions. The method is demonstrated for the DVB-T2 system using an integrated ultra low current wake-up receiver. The performed simulation suggests that an increased SNR of 0.3 dB is required to decode the modified DVB-T2 waveform. On the other side, this allows for continuous listening for carousel objects at the receiver side. During listening mode the wake-up receiver consumes 230 μA at 3 V for the simulated configuration. © 2012 IEEE.
