Abstract
e Kamar-e-Mehdi Formation (Callovian – Oxfordian) is the ll of a shelf lagoon situated in the western
and central parts of the so-called Tabas Block for a N-S distance of 200-300 km. From the predominantly ne-grained
carbonates, which in the depocenter reach more than 1000 m in thickness, 69 taxa of bivalves are described, which
dier greatly in their preservation depending on their original shell mineralogy. Aragonitic taxa are only preserved as
internal or composite moulds, whereas calcitic taxa occur in shell preservation. New to science is the pectinid Camp-
tonectes (Grandinectes) teres subgen. nov. et sp. nov. and the pholadomyid Agrawalimya tubularis sp. nov. Most of the
taxa are common also in the Middle und Upper Jurassic of Europe. Exceptions are the genera Agrawalimya, which so
far is known only from the Callovian of Kachchh, western India, and Neoburmesia, which is solely known from Japan.
