Inclusive Design strategies are of growing interest to companies serving heterogeneous users, e.g. in the mobile phone market. Therefore, several tools to assess physical and cognitive exclusion exist. The authors outline that with the maturation of physical inclusion management, there is an upcoming deficit in non-physical inclusion such as social or psychological astigmatisa-tion. Therefore, a brief overview of user perception and the different ap-proaches of Inclusive Design are given to outline hitherto existing knowledge. Research needs are illustrated by using an inclusive design tool measuring exclusion through product usability. The author’s suggestions lead to an al-ternative approach including soft factors addressing non-stigmatic design. Concluding, the main findings during this study are presented.
