Abstract

In this paper, we measured the germanium concentration of shorter fiber samples by the frequency shift DeltafSBSof stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) and Raman gain measurement. It is concluded that the measurement of the SBS frequency shift DeltafSBS is an appropriate means to identify fibers with a high Raman gain even with only a few meters of a fiber sample
