For a long time product development is trying to break down the design process to single steps that allow for an uninterrupted computer-aided and algorithm-based design process. One goal of the Collaborative Research Centre 666 is the "automated" design of integral, bifurcated sheet metal parts. The final 3D CAD-model is generated based on a mathematically optimized geometry which in turn defined by product-specific individual customer requirements.
