Usage patterns of mobile phones are changing continuously. Voice communication as the major application for mobile phones is loosing importance, while more and more mobile phone users use the Internet on the go, especially to access web pages. However, numerous restrictions have to be accepted when using the mobile web, for example limitations to data transfer, display size and possibilities of data input. Web pages need to be adapted to mobile use in various respects in order to be properly displayed. This article presents and assesses four different ways of adaptation - through the mobile browser, web server, proxy server and through the use of style sheets. |
