Abstract

Describes interaction structure analyses (ISA) as an explorative method of Configural Frequency Analysis (CFA) that examines the structure of interactions among the variables involved underlying the detected "types" or "antitype." ISA examines higher order interactions in 2 dimensional contingency tables. Examines extensions of the original ISA procedure that analyze the use of ISA for data from one- and/or multiway analysis of variance (M. Stemmler, 1994). Drawbacks of the use of ISA procedures are also discussed.
