The detailed mechanism of the formation of net and branching leaf structures is not known yet. Several mathematical modelling attempts to generate those structures have been made previously, based on biochemical or purely mathematical assumptions. Here, we present a simple model, based on plausible biophysical suppositions, which is able to reproduce the formation of a ramified structure grown out of a single activated cell. © 1994.
