Abstract

This paper gives an introduction to transceiver design for second and third generation wireless communications systems. Different transceiver front-end related testcase specifications and their relation to specific transceiver characteristics are explained. A review of some receiver architectures and their suitability for the two different systems followed by a perspective of future trends in transceiver front-end design is given.
