In this note we discuss the pre-fltering unit as a part of the receiver in GSM mobile stations. Different cost functions lead to different filter coeffcients. We discuss some approaches and compare their performance under the presence of a co-channel interferer. In particular, we consider a version of a constant modulus algorithm (CMA) and gradient search connected with CMA.
