Abstract

A cardiopulmonary resuscitation feedback system must measure the compression depth and rate to ensure a sufficient cardiac massage. This contribution presents a novel approach to CPR measurement systems. The introduced concept evaluates the compression depth and rate with two antennas which are coupled through the thorax. For this reason, different 3D thorax models (deformable) were investigated and simulated with four different antenna pairs. The antennas are centered between 868 MHz and 2.4 GHz and matched to the upper skin layer impedance. The simulation results are evaluated in animal and human experiments finally.
