Project details

Short description

Within the ERASMUS+ project FLUENT, a didactic model for flexible teaching planning and an online training course for university and college lecturers were developed. FLUENT, an acronym for “FLexible Universal Educational Model for a New Hybrid Teaching,” stands for innovative approaches in higher education didactics. The model and online course were developed as part of a design-based research process. These interventions aim to open up forward-looking opportunities for higher education teaching to meet dynamic challenges and changes in a contemporary manner.

Scientific Abstract

COVID-19 changed the way universities (will have to) teach. Hybrid models will be part of the teaching modes for modern universities. It will be more important for teachers to switch flexibly from F2F to online learning and back to generate an optimal learning experience for students. But there is a lack of evidence and models for designing these scenarios. Therefore, this project will innovate practice by introducing an innovative “reversed”-design for fluent teaching and learning experiences.

The following activities lead to the outcomes that will stimulate innovative teaching and learning practices:
- in-depth research in the field of educational models
- documentation of research results geared to the needs of practice
- design of training courses for university teachers
- comprehensive didactic development work in the field of university teacher training
- extensive qualification activities with university teachers
- intensive publication and dissemination activities

The results of the project are:
- a new hybrid educational model (FLUENT-model), that supports a fluent transition between different modes of teaching and learning, encourages inclusion, is flexible and sustainable.
- a modular certification-program (MOC-program) and appropriate program material for university teachers, based on the FLUENT-model
- at least 200 university teachers qualified through the MOC-program
- response in the scientific and professional community
