Scientific Abstract

Good research needs to be close to doctors and patients. In the planning and design of studies and in ongoing research processes, scientists are dependent on the critical and constructive views of GPs, medical assistants and members of the public. To strengthen clinical research in general practice, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the establishment of the Bavarian Research Network in General Practice (BayFoNet).

BayFoNet is supported by five Bavarian institutes for general practice at the University Hospital of Würzburg, the Ludwig Maximilian University, the Technical University of Munich, the University of Augsburg and the University Hospital of Erlangen. The aim is to establish a sustainable, dynamic network of GP research practices in Bavaria. A network of GP research practices and university institutions of general medicine in Bavaria is to be established in order to improve networking and cooperation between universities, GP practices and citizens.
