Within the scope of this transfer project, the forming limits of a fundamentally investigated orbital forming process could be expanded by the application of tailored process strategies. To transfer the results closer to industrial appliaction, a demonstrator geometry was defined and manufactured. For the evaluation of functional properties, the demonstrator was assemblied to a near-series clutch disc. The demanded fatigue strength could be confirmed by applying an application-oriented torsional load spectrum. In addition to the advantage of strain hardening, the weight saving potential is a decisive factor for a possible industrial application of orbital forming.
